Bayan cong pinacaiirog: Ang unang pinasasalubung̃an ng̃ maligayang pagbati at pagpipitagan, sampu ng̃ lahat ng̃ mg̃a napipisan, lalong lalo na ang mg̃a ginoong bumubuo ng̃ pagpapaonlac sa carang̃alán ng̃ dakilang Rizal na casalucuyang ipinagdidiwang ng̃ capuluang Filipinas, cayo'y hinahandugan ng̃ayon ng̃ di mabilang na pasasalamat, sanhi ng̃ pagcatanim sa kaibuturan ng̃ puso ng̃ araw na itong di co rin nililimot.

Cung ang pupulas sa labi sa oras na ito ay culang sa timyas, ang madlang nai-ipon na ang macatataroc ng̃ lalim ng̃ aking pagcapahat, ng̃uni magi-ging isang pamucaw, isang pagcantig sa pintuan ng̃ calooban, bagay sa caramihang nagwawacsi pa ng̃ tunay na damdamin at sumasampalataya sa hiduang aral ng̃ mg̃a nagcucubling halimaw na nag aanyon mabait, bago'y caaway ng̃ cagaling̃an, na di pa nasiyahan sa tinalicdang pagtatamasa ng̃ mg̃a cahirapan, cundi bagcus namamalagtas sa lalong pag-api at pagdustang nacalalagim sa isang hindi nang̃imi sa camatayan macapagbucás sa tulóg na loob ng̃ canyang cababayan, at naging mananacop ng̃ Filipinas sa paghahayin ng̃ buhay ng̃ icatutubós sa tanán, ng̃uni, ¡anong hapding salang̃in! ¡anong pait namnamin! cung madilidiling yuco sa dating caugalian ang pinaghabinlang ilán ng̃ canyang mg̃a talinghaga.
¿Ibig ninyong makilala? ¡ah! wala acong carapatang tumurol at sucat na lamang ipatalastas ang nacapanghihilacbot na usapan ng̃ mg̃a lahing Lacandula rin, upang mang̃akilalang sila'y dapat pacasumpain, na anila'y: Si Rizal ang tunay na may casalanan at nagcalat ng̃ caguluhan at cahirapang tinatangkilic ng̃ayon ng̃ Bayan, mg̃a pang̃ung̃usap na di napag labanan ng̃ puso cong iwi at naramdamang lumuha ng̃ dugó, at naipucol naman tuloy ang wicang: bakit hindi mang̃atal at mapipi ang cumacatal ng̃ walang catotohanan; datapua't ng̃ macapaghunos dili sa paglalatang ng̃ galit sa sumandaling iyon ay dagling binawi at pinapaghari ang capatawarang naisigao ang mahalagang bigcas ng̃ Póong si Jesús, ng̃ napapaco sa Cruz ng̃ casalanan: Dios co sila'y patawarin mo sapagcat hindi nalalaman ang canilang guinagawa (Palacpacan).
Talastas ng̃ lahat ang Bayan sinilang̃an ng̃ ating ipinag-gagalac ng̃ayon, iyang dacong sinisicatan ng̃ maliwanag na araw, na pinamumutictican ng̃ mg̃a bagong silang na pagmamalasakit, diyan sa Calamba, niyong ika labing siyam ng̃ Junio ng̃ taong isang libo, walong daa't anim na pu't isa, sa macatuid, ganap na apat na pu't limang taon limang buan at labing isang araw ng̃ayon, at buhat naman ng̃ Páhiná 6gupuin ang canyang iniing̃atang buhay ng̃ mg̃a lihim na caaway, ay sampung taon ng̃ayon walang culang.

Tayo naman, lalo na cayong mg̃a caPáhiná 7binataang dumog sa pag-aaral, cunang halimbaua ang canyang mg̃a pagsisicap. Si Rizal, hindi dito lamang sa Filipinas tinuclas ang caaya-ayang carunung̃an, cundi naglacbay sa España, niyong taong isang libo, walong daa't walong pu't dalaua, sa pang-ulong bayan nito, sa Paris, sa Bruselas sa Berlin, sa Londres, sa Gante at sa mg̃a pang̃ulong Ciudad ng̃ Rhin at doon natutuhan ang ucol sa pangagamot, «Filologia», «Etnologia», «Filosofía» at «Letras».
Iniwagayway ang nacamtan sa pagtitiyaga sa Capuluang ito, ng̃uni agad hinarang ng̃ mg̃a malicmatang mapagpahirap, sapagca't hindi maglalaon cung pababayaang magpapatuloy, at lilitaw ang itinatago-tago at kinikipkip na calayaan ng̃ Filipinas, gayon man, hindi tumudla ng̃ macamandag, at sucat ng̃ tinugon ang pang̃ung̃usap nila ng̃ papaganito: «Na ang lahat ng̃ mg̃a lahi ng̃ tao ay nagcacaiba iba lamang sa canilang mg̃a anyo, ng̃uni alinsunod sa Psicologia, ang maputi, ang abo-abo, ang madilaw, ang cayumangui at ang maitim ay magcacaisa ng̃ caramdaman, nagcacawang̃is ang mg̃a umu-udyoc na budhi at hilig na magpapatiboc ng̃ puso, ang pinagcacaibhan lamang ay ang paraan ng̃ pagsasaysay ó pag-gawa.»

«Na ang pag-iisip ay tulad sa mg̃a cayamanan at cung may mg̃a naciong mayaman at mahirap, ay may mg̃a tao ring mahirap at mayaman: Cung may nagbabalac na taong siya'y ipinang̃anac na pagdaca'y mayaman, ang gayong tao'y namamali, sapagca't siya'y sumilang ng̃ hubad na cawang̃is ng̃ alipin at iba't iba pang lubhang mahahalaga, (Noli me tangere dahong icapito).»

Dito'y mahihinuha na ang canyang catalinuhang calakip ang pagsasangalang sa Bayan, sapagcat tumanghal ang canyang pang̃alan sa pamamag-itan ng̃ pakikibaca sa mg̃a calapastang̃anang cumacalat sa mg̃a paglulubog sa matwid hangang binawiang buhay ng̃ hindi sa sakit cundi sa bilis ng̃ punlong pamatay ¡Oh catiwalian ng̃ panahon! Bahagya pang umuusbong ang larawan iguinuguhit sa dulo ng̃ mg̃a sandata ay isinabog na ang apoy ng̃ capahamacan ng̃ isang namamahalang nacuha sa kintab ng̃ cayamanan, dinaig ng̃ capangyarihan at nagwasac ng̃ mahusay na pananangkilic.

Sa guitna ng̃ di maulatang pagpipighatí at pakikipanayam cay Simoun, ay nagsalita nitong sumusunod.
